ZEIT ONLINE is seeking an Online Editor for Podcasts to join their team. The role involves editorial support and coordination of podcasts, moderating and producing episodes, and developing new format ideas. The ideal candidate has a degree in journalism, experience in radio journalism or podcasting, strong writing skills for speaking, and knowledge of audio production. This is a full-time position based in Berlin, with a contract from March 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024.

Requirements

  • A completed degree and excellent journalistic training.
  • Experience as a radio journalist and/or podcaster.
  • Good knowledge of audio production, especially editing.
  • Strong understanding of current political, economic, scientific, and cultural contexts.
  • In-depth knowledge of German domestic politics is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and engagement skills.
  • Passion for podcasts and familiarity with the podcasting scene.
  • Fluent in English or other foreign languages.
  • Awareness of the journalistic opportunities presented by new technological possibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Editorial support and coordination of podcasts.
  • Moderating and producing episodes, particularly for the news podcast "Was jetzt?".
  • Developing and implementing new format ideas.
  • Conducting interviews with colleagues and experts from various departments under time pressure.
